A growing non-bank lender has just announced the appointment of its new head of credit.

Brighten Home Loans has welcomed Stuart Murray to the role.

He joins the group from Resimac, where he stood as head of lending Australia while also acting as the responsible manager for the group’s Australian Credit License.

Brighten managing director Scott Kelly dubbed Murray’s appointment a “key milestone” for the non-bank.

“Stuart’s appointment comes at an exciting time,” he said.

“2021 is shaping up as a pivotal year for Brighten, after a strong 2020 that saw the successful launch of our domestic residential mortgage origination pilot program, which exceeded our six-month origination targets by 132% in just three months.”

For his part, Murray said he was attracted to Brighten by the group’s desire to provide its brokers and customers a consistent solution through its utilisation of technology.

“Brighten is positioned for strong growth over the next 12 months, thanks to its ability to provide an innovative product offering to brokers, alongside a competitive pricing structure, and superior service proposition,” he said.

Today’s news is simply the latest in Brighten’s prolonged “hiring spree”, with the group having doubled its headcount over the past 12 months, now boasting an 80-strong team.

As Brighten head of distribution Natalie Sheehan sees it, Murray will play a crucial part in achieving both the group’s short and long-term goals.

“Stuart’s unique set of skills and extensive credit experience within the non-bank market will be invaluable as we take the next step in our continued growth and capitalise on some exciting opportunities that are ahead,” Sheehan said.

Brighten is also currently recruiting a chief technology officer, as it seeks to expand its presence in the Australian residential mortgage market through its technology platform.
